THE FOUNDER -Michael R. Warner, a Spokane resident for over 30 years, attended universities in Oregon and Idaho and earned a Master's Degree in Trumpet Performance from Eastern Washington University. He taught music in Rosalia and Libby, Montana before becoming Director of Bands at Mead High School, in 1992. During his 27-year tenure at Mead High School, his bands performed throughout the Western United States, Western Canada, and marched in both the Pasedena Rose Bowl and the Miami Orange Bowl Parades. Since retirement, he has worked in the real estate field and is an agent with Windermere - N. Wall Realty. He is also actively engaged as an adjudicator and judge at music festivals throughout the Northwest. Michael served as conductor and artistic director of the SBBB from its inception in 1995 until the fall of 1998.

For Michael Warner, conducting the Spokane British Brass Band was indeed a labor of love. Long a devotee of English Brass Bands, he visited England in 1993 to hear the best British Brass Bands performing in their national competition. Returning home, Michael sought out some of Eastern Washington's most talented brass musicians, bringing them together to create the Spokane British Brass Band.
